Lossless Compression Impact

In this article, I will discuss what may changed if we have a great lossless data compression, which can compress any file size to a small (fixed) size. Will it changes our life style? Especially the way we are computing? Maybe, it may changes our life style, do I jump to conclusion to fast? Maybe, maybe not. Below I listed some of the changes that I am sure they will.

1. There may only one storage media available not like today we use so many storage media
   eg floppy-disk, cd, dvd, tape, etc.
2. Computer shape will be changed, it will be slimmer, becausestorage media will be smaller.
3. Hard disk or whatever it will be called later, its size will be less important than now because maybe 1KB will represent an hour of audio video entertainment, imagine how many hours for 20GB! So we will not be so much worry about the size.
4. Earth resources eg wood, rubber, etc. will be saved since it is no longer needed to make another useless storage media.
5. Hardware companies will be racing to make the fastest decoder to extract the compressed data.
6. People can enjoy the beauty of audio video entertainment at their original purpose content without any lossy compression degration.
7. Download time will be sorter, since data is small (compressed).
8. We will not bring many bulky data storage when we do a business trip.
9. Audio video equipment will have a big memory size inside, it is required for the decompressed data before they are played. Why they do not have harddisk instead? Because harddisk is much slower than memory.
10. Like it or not, all our electronic equipment will be digital not analog, they are smaller, faster, purer and cleaner.

After reading this 10 possiblity of what may changed and still there plenty of thing that did not describe yet. So is it correct or it is too much to say that our life style will change because of this great lossless compression, well, still that is depend on us, whether or not we will use it, right? wrong! most of people will use it, so like it or not, we all will eventually use it as well, that is assuming no one will live separated from other human being.
